Join acclaimed Canadian poet and novelist Lisa Robertson, author of The Baudelaire Fractal, as she presents her latest novel, Riverwork. The novel follows Lucy Frost, a domestic worker in Paris who becomes captivated by the buried Bièvre river and the notebooks of her vanished great-aunt, a researcher who spent years tracing its history. As Lucy uncovers stories of laundresses, labourers, writers and the city’s forgotten industries, she begins weaving their voices into her own nocturnal writing. Explore a long-gone Paris and both its domestic workers and its writers, in this fascinating conversation moderated by André Alexis, award-winning author of Fifteen Dogs.

A lost river, a lost aunt, a found literary life: from the cult-favourite poet and author of The Baudelaire Fractal comes a glittering and erudite new novel of Paris.  Some ruins are invisible. Under the pavements of Paris there lies buried an ancient river, the Bièvre.
