Year-Round Programmes

Toronto Lit Up 2023-2024

Meet local authors and join them in celebrating the launch of new books! The Toronto International Festival of Authors has partnered with the Toronto Arts Council (TAC) on Toronto Lit Up: a multi-year initiative designed to spotlight local writers and empower them with career-building opportunities.

TIFA KIDS

There is nothing quite like the moments in our childhood when we first fall in love with a story, widen our world view and try to see things from someone else’s perspective. Reading lets our children occupy a different space; the middle of a story offers a multitude of possibilities, of journeys, imaginings and opportunities. Sharing, listening to, talking about and challenging our stories is transformative.

Book Club

Love reading? Join the club! Our Book Club seasons each include five meeting sessions that spotlight a specific contemporary book that delivers rich storytelling and thought-provoking themes. Sessions are facilitated by author and award-winning educator Catherine Graham, and many will include guest appearances by the authors themselves.

IV Programme

Since its inception in 2008, the IV Programme has generated visibility and marketability for Canadian literature abroad, by introducing international publishers to the Canadian literary scene, and strengthening relationships with international counterparts that have led to new business development initiatives and the creation of new literary works.

The New Embassy

The New Embassy is a celebration of Canadian voices in the 21st century, presented in the spontaneous and innovative spirit of Toronto’s iconic Bohemian Embassy: the iconic 1960s coffee house that helped cultivate the careers of many storytelling legends and is considered to be the foremother of the Harbourfront Reading Series, which has grown into the Toronto International Festival of Authors we know today.
