Opening his Guest Curator series Rupture / Justice, acclaimed writer and lawyer Philippe Sands draws on his own experiences and life in the law to explore five moments that have shaped his life and when individuals, nations and institutions have sought to right historic wrongs. Interweaving history, stories and personal experience with live music, Sands is joined by Cantor Gideon Zelermyer, pianist Stephen Glass and cantor and classical guitarist Daniel Singer, to create a very special evening of that draws on the poetry and
songs of Leonard Cohen to illuminate the possibilities and limitations of our uncertain times, and where we might still find justice and hope.
Rupture / Justice is a specially curated series of events examining the fault lines that are fracturing our times. Guided by Philippe Sands, award-winning author and one of the world’s foremost international lawyers, each event takes a thematic approach to bring together a panel of global voices to ask, when the world breaks, how can wounds be healed, who will tell the story, and where and when can justice be applied?
