About

Canadian literature has long been steered by its big publishing houses, and for much of that history by the men at the helm of them. But some of the country’s most inventive writing takes root elsewhere, in the small presses, many of them led by women building something of their own on their own terms. This panel brings together Hazel Millar, Co-Publisher of Book*hug Press, and Terese Mason Pierre, Editor at Augur Magazine, for an honest and open conversation about why women have long gravitated to the small press world, the challenges and opportunities that come with it, and what the future holds for independent publishing. Moderated by Kate Siklosi of Gap Riot Press.
