About

Have you ever found yourself staring at a blank page or screen, with no idea how to fill it? Or reading something you wrote and wondering: What was I thinking? Drawing on the advice and experiences of writers dead and alive, award-winning author and educator Meaghan Strimas offers an insider look at how to manage common challenges such as writer’s block, imposter syndrome, and rejections, through intentional writing practices, expectation management, and the building of supportive relationships with writers and other creative professionals.

TIFA’s Creative Writing Masterclasses offer the opportunity to learn how to craft compelling stories and bring captivating characters to life through hands-on lessons from acclaimed authors and industry experts. This is a 90-minute masterclass. All writing levels are welcome.

This masterclass is presented in partnership with The Humber School for Writers

Meaghan Strimas is the author of three poetry collections, Junkman’s Daughter, A Good Time Had By All, and Yes or Nope, which won the Trillium Book Award for Poetry. She is the editor of The Selected Gwendolyn MacEwan and the co-editor (with Priscila Uppal) of Another Dysfunctional Cancer Poetry Anthology. She is a professor at Humber Polytechnic, where she coordinates the Bachelor of Creative & Professional Writing program.
