About

What does Canadian poetry sound like now? At a moment when ideas of Canadian identity, culture and belonging are being challenged and reshaped, poetry offers a powerful space to reflect, resist and reimagine. Selected by award-winning poet and editor Mary Dalton, Best Canadian Poetry 2026 gathers some of the most compelling poems published across the country over the past year, capturing the range and vitality of poetry being written today. Dalton and series editor Anita Lahey introduce the latest edition, accompanied by readings that bring voices from the anthology to the TIFA stage. Discover poetry that reflects, subverts and transcends our present moment, and asks anew: what makes a great poem?
