Rooted in his experience as a physician, Vincent Lam’s On the Ravine is a timely take on the devastating reality of addiction and the uphill battle against a rampant epidemic – the opioid crisis.

Picking up the lives of two characters whom we first met in Lam’s award-winning debut Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures, we follow the story of violinist Claire and troubled physician Dr. Chen as Lam paints a profound portrait of the very real issues of duty of care, doctor-patient relationships, and the lengths to which one will go to save a life.

Vincent Lam brings deep insight to one of North America’s most pressing problems and highlights his position as one of Canada’s most important writers.

Moderated by Shelley Lepp.

This event will be followed by a book signing.
