Learn how to craft compelling stories and bring captivating characters to life through hands-on lessons from acclaimed authors and industry experts.

Home – Leaving, Returning & Finding it Elsewhere

Home evokes powerful emotions. Whether longing for it, escaping from it or returning to it, home is an enduring source of creativity. This 90-minute masterclass led by acclaimed author Leila Abdoulela explores the different ways of writing about home – as a safe place, a community, a language or even as a person.

The class covers perspective and descriptions, developing a distinctive voice, engaging with life events and mapping the writing journey from where we come from and where we want to be. All writing levels welcome.

Presented by TIFA in partnership with the Humber School for Writers.
