Rooting For the Anti-Hero

Kevin Chong and Hana Shafi

8:00pm

Thursday, September 28, 2023

Studio Theatre

60 mins

Kevin Chong and Hana Shafi celebrate the underdogs, the anti-heroes, the misfits and weirdos in their latest works which, through playful genre-bending, poetry and prose, highlight the beauty, charm and nostalgia of everyday lives.

A unique work of metafiction, Chong’s The Double Life of Benson Yu follows a comic book artist losing control of his newest story as the narrative of his own life starts to take over.

Part-poetry collection, part-art book, Shafi’s People You Know, Places You’ve Been is a charming collage of the familiar archetypes of the everyday, from the Greasy Spoon to the Hot Professor to the Waiting Room.

Moderated by Angelyn Francis.

This event will be followed by a book signing.
