The 13th edition of the International Visitors (IV) Programme, taking place during the Festival, will welcome publishing leaders from across Canada and around the world to take part in exclusive virtual opportunities for professional development during the Festival.

The 2020 IV Fellows invite all who are interested in publishing and culture exchange to join them for the Programme’s Keynote Address by Lennie Goodings, Chair of Virago Press, titled “A bite of the apple: the story of how Virago books changed the world.” The presentation of the annual Ivy Award, in recognition of an outstanding contribution to Canadian publishing, will follow. This year, the Ivy Award will be presented to Mawenzi House Publisher Nurjehan Aziz.

Featured Authors

Lennie Goodings is Chair of the UK publishing house Virago Press. Goodings was part of Virago's management buy-out team of five who created a newly independent Virago in 1987 and became the Publishing Director in 1992. In 1995 Virago was sold to Little, Brown and Company where Goodings remained the Publisher and Editorial Director. She stepped back from that position in 2017 and became Virago Chair, still editing and commissioning her authors. Goodings won the Bookseller's Industry Award: Editor and Imprint of the Year in 2010 and A Lifetime's Achievement at WOW, London's Southbank Women of the World festival in 2018.
