Join Cody Caetano for a conversation about his memoir. Cody Caetano is a Toronto-based writer of Anishinaabe and Portuguese descent who, in his new book presents, a raw account of the trials and tribulations of growing up with absentee parents, but with warmth and love. Caetano’s inimitable voice guides the reader through his memoir with wonder and humanity.
By the Lake Book Club offers six Tuesday-night events, between February and December featuring leading Canadian authors in conversation with Humber College graduates and alumni. Each in-person event includes a reading, discussion, audience Q&A and book-signing. Virtual events are subtitled live and provide online viewing and audio.

Where: By The Lake Book Club events are held at the Assembly Hall, in the heart of South Etobicoke. A virtual only ticket is also available.

Cody Caetano is a writer of Anishinaabe and Portuguese descent and an off-reserve member of Pinaymootang First Nation. He has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Toronto, where he wrote this memoir under the mentorship of Lee Maracle. Excerpts of Half-Bads in White Regalia earned him a 2020 Indigenous Voices Award for Unpublished Prose.
This Assembly Hall program is presented in partnership with Humber College’s Faculty of Media & Creative Arts and the Toronto International Festival of Authors.
