Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that words and stories have been shared on this land for thousands of years. Toronto International Festival of Authors operates on the traditional territory of many nations including the Anishinabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Wendat peoples. This land is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit, a treaty to peaceably share and protect this land, through friendship and respect. We thank those who have cared for this land and we are grateful for the opportunity to meet here and connect through stories.
