Toronto Lit Up: Fantastic Lou

Presented as part of Toronto Lit Up 2024

About

Join us February 23 at 1pm for the launch of Fantastic Lou by Qin Leng (Tundra Books). Author Kyo Maclear will host and introduce Qin, as well as ask her a few questions. Then Qin will do a live drawing of a brand-new Lou comic strip, and lead kids in a drawing activity.

Attendance is completely free, but please RSVP on Eventbrite to provide a sense of attendance. Books will be for sale by Another Story Bookshop.

Drawn from real life, these tender and funny comics about a young boy named Lou are a joyful exploration of self-discovery and self-expression. Qin Leng, illustrator of Sharon, Lois & Bram’s Skinnamarink, A Family Is a Family Is a Family and many other classic books makes a solo graphic novel – based on her real-life kid – that will be a sure hit with comics fans of Le Petit Nicolas, Calvin & Hobbes and Peanuts.

Toronto Lit Up is a multi-year initiative, started in 2016 by the Toronto International Festival of Authors and the Toronto Arts Council, to spotlight Toronto writers and empower local artists with career-building opportunities. Between April 2016 and March 2024, Toronto Lit Up has presented over 200 events featuring over 250 Toronto authors and illustrators. Toronto Lit Up book launches take place throughout the year at venues across the city. They are open to the public and free to attend. Click here for more information.
