This fun and funny, but not frivolous, tale of about a Vietnamese Canadian family in Toronto, who must fight to protect their nail salon against gentrification in the form of a luxurious chain salon. Sunshine Nails explores generation gaps, work and making a home in a new country.
By the Lake Book Club offers six Tuesday-night events, between February and December featuring leading Canadian authors in conversation with Humber College graduates and alumni. Each in-person event includes a reading, discussion, audience Q&A, book-signing and American sign language interpretation. Virtual events are subtitled live and provide online viewing and audio.

This Assembly Hall program is presented in partnership with Humber College’s Faculty of Media & Creative Arts and the Toronto International Festival of Authors.
