Event Safety & COVID-19
The Toronto International Festival of Authors and Harbourfront Centre continue to monitor and respond to the changing situation regarding the COVID-19 virus. As of March 16, 2020, TIFA’s offices at Harbourfront Centre have been closed to the public and administration staff have been working remotely. All on site work at Harbourfront Centre follows the advice of Toronto Public Health, including an increased number of sanitizing stations and sanitation of all of high-traffic and communal areas, informational signage on all doors and a mandatory face mask policy. Plans to reopen Harbourfront Centre will be announced when it is deemed safe to do so.
A select number of events for the 41st Toronto International Festival of Authors were produced on site at Harbourfront Centre. These events were conducted in careful and strategic ways to promote the health and safety of our staff, participants and community. Precautionary measures included health checkpoints and screenings prior to admittance on site, physical distancing of two metres at all times, mandatory face masks (excluding performers while physically distanced during the event itself) and the sanitization of all performance spaces and equipment before and after events.
