Bio

Susanna M. Hoffman is a disaster anthropologist, author, editor of thirteen books, two ethnographic films and over forty articles. Her books include: the Angry Earth 1& 2; Disaster Upon Disaster; Catastrophe and Culture; the forthcoming Cooling Down; Nostalgia, Ecalgia, and Topalgia; and Inplacement. Her films include Kypseli: Men and Women Apart. She initiated the Risk and Disaster Sections of the Society for Applied Anthropology and the International Union of Anthropology and Ethnographic Sciences. She was the first recipient of the Fulbright Aegean Initiative and serves on the Task Force on World Food Problems and the Culture and Disaster Action Network.
