About

What if the life you never planned turns out to be the one where you discover your voice? Join us for a conversation inspired by The First Lady Next Door, the candid and uplifting memoir by Canadian-born former First Lady of Iceland, Eliza Reid. Reid reflects on the surprising path that took her from the everyday juggle of work and family, to the global spotlight after her husband, a quiet history professor, was elected as President of Iceland. Reid will sit down with beloved Canadian singer-songwriter, author and actress, Jann Arden for a conversation filled with humour, honesty, and warmth, as Reid shares what it means to navigate an extraordinary role while staying true to yourself.

Books will be available for purchase courtesy of Flying Books. Both Eliza and Jann will be doing an book signing following the event.

Presented in partnership with Simon & Schuster Canada.

An inspiring memoir by the Canadian-born former First Lady of Iceland that asks the question: What if the life you didn't plan is the one where you find your voice? In early 2016, Canadian-born Eliza Reid’s biggest daily goals were modest but meaningful: showering without one of her four kids bursting into the bathroom, juggling clients without dropping a deadline, and growing the writers’ retreat she was building from scratch. What wasn’t on her bingo card?
