Bio
Bill Buford was the founding editor of Granta in England; the literary & fiction editor of the New Yorker; and, for 20+ years, has been writing about food culture for the magazine. He is the author of 2 bestsellers, Heat, about his time in Italian restaurants (and one very famous Tuscan butcher shop), and Dirt, about the 5 years he lived in Lyon, France, training to be a chef and discovering that–it’s true!–Italians really did invent French cuisine. He is also the author of Among the Thugs, a conspicuously non-culinary study of English soccer hooligans.
