Join Dene and Métis poet and artist Matthew James Weigel for a unique workshop on designing books and artists’ books. Sharing the process and choices explored while designing books, Weigel will walk you through everything you need to know about this creative art form. Once he shows you the basics, it will be time to jump off the expected and into the expansive world of artists’ books. While the finished product may resemble a book (or not!), it serves as an important reminder to consider the relationships between its text, form and content. Weigel’s knowledge and passion for designing is exercised daily in his work at a small press, and made further evident by the award recognition for his book Whitemud Walking, which received the Alcuin Society Book Design Award.
