The Toronto Poetry Slam returns with a high-energy spectacle of original content to leave you feeling inspired!
Since 2005, TPS has featured some of Canada’s best and most engaging spoken word artists and next generation stars. Presented in partnership with Toronto Poetry Project, this hit slam is a competition in two rounds with multiple contestants, judged by members of the audience. Anyone is welcome to sign up to perform in any style.

Featuring Janice Jo Lee and Tahira Rajwani
Janice Jo Lee is a dynamic artist. She is a second generation Korean-Canadian settler based in Tkaronto (Toronto), Ontario. She is a folk-soul-jazz singer songwriter, composer-sound designer, spoken word poet, theatre maker, and arts and anti-oppression facilitator.
Tahira Rajwani is Mississauga’s 5th Youth Poet Laureate and recently ranked second nationally when representing Toronto at the 2025 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam. As a South Asian Canadian spoken word artist, her work is rooted in themes of diaspora and women’s empowerment. Tahira won the 2024 TPS/TIFA Poetry Slam.
Want to take part? Poet sign up will take place in the Isabel Bader Theatre one hour before the event. Limited slam and open mic spots.
