About

Kick off the MOTIVE weekend with a deep dive into the genre with none other than the master of mystery, Walter Mosley! Renowned for creating the iconic Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins, LA’s coolest detective, Mosley has topped bestseller lists, garnered many accolades and even landed a spot in the New York State Writers Hall of Fame. In this special event, we launch Farewell, Amethystine, the 16th title in the Easy Rawlins series, where it is 1970 and we find Easy turning 50 and in fine form until a case leads on a dark journey into the past. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to sit down with an international superstar.

From “master of the genre” (Washington Post) Walter Mosley, Detective Easy Rawlins’ latest client sends him down a warren of memory and nostalgia—blinding him to reason and risk. January 1970 finds Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins, LA’s premier Black detective, at 50 years of age despite all expectations.  He has a loving family, a beautiful home, and a thriving investigation agency.  All is right with the world… and then Amethystine Stoller, his own personal Helen of Troy, arrives. Her ex-husband is missing.
