About
From conflict and migration crises, to the rise of nationalist ideologies and political point-scoring, 2025 has seen the fundamental belief in universal human rights challenged and undermined. Built out of the destruction of World War II and the Holocaust, the human rights order has been a cornerstone of good, progressive society. The subject shaped the 2025 Massey Lectures delivered by Alex Neve, human rights lawyer and former secretary general of Amnesty International Canada, examining the law, history and perilious future in our fractured world. In this event, he is joined in conversation by Carol Off to discuss how we reshape a future that offers rights for all.
Alex Neve is a human rights lawyer who served as Secretary General of Amnesty International Canada from 2000 - 2020. He took part in over forty human rights research and advocacy delegations throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America, Guantánamo Bay and, closer to home, First Nations communities in Canada.
