About

Join us for an evening celebrating Toronto and its arts scene with stories, food and music!

Len Senater, author of The Depanneur Cookbook will explore Toronto’s astonishing cultural diversity and the unique ways to foster community through food while the audience gets to snack on food from Rahaf Alakbani of Rahaf’s Kitchen. Senater will be in conversation with Pay Chen.

Shawn Micallef will discuss the latest edition of his book Stroll, a guide to walking tours all around Toronto with an analysis of Toronto and how it has changed over the years. Micallef will be in conversation with Ansley Newland.

Catherine Hernandez will discuss her new novel Behind You, a thrilling read inspired by true events in Canadian history but is all fiction. Alma is a film editor of a true crime series currently working on an episode about the Scarborough Stalker. Switching between past an present, readers see young Alma and a city consumed with a search for the Stalker, and adult Alma dealing with her son’s dangerous behaviour.

The evening will end with readings from three authors in our Toronto Lit Up 2023 season who were invited to write pieces for Write the Neighbourhood, a commissioned anthology featuring 11 authors from Toronto.

Host: Martin Gomes
