About

Learn how to craft compelling stories and bring captivating characters to life through hands-on lessons from acclaimed authors and industry experts.

From Outline to Draft

Whether you outline every scene in detail, or just jot a few notes about the story’s main beats, turning an idea into a draft can be intimidating. In this class, author Kate Heartfield covers some techniques to get the story onto the page, in a way that matches your own vision and writing style. It will cover topics such as writer’s block, revision on the fly and finding joy in the unexpected. The class will include some exercises that can be applied to a work in progress for those who have one, or to a prompt provided by the instructor. Although this class will focus on novels, many of the techniques will also be applicable to shorter fiction and interactive narratives.

All writing levels are welcome in this 90-minute creative writing masterclass.
