Meet the authors writing in languages that represent unique communities from around the world and across the local neighbourhoods of Toronto. This event will introduce you to four Bengali authors speaking to the ways in which Bengali literature has evolved for 1,300 years to the present day. Presented in English.

Featured Authors

Manosi Saha is a writer living in Kingston, Ontario. She was born in Bangladesh and after finishing her Master’s in Science, she moved to Canada in 2000 to make it her second home. She completed her Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and is currently teaching at Limestone District School Board. Manosi started writing poems, short stories and articles at a very young age. She regularly writes for various newspapers and magazines while working on her Canadian Literature writing projects. As a mother of two boys, loving wife and singer, Manosi enjoys reading, gardening and traveling in her spare time.

Tasmina Khan is a Behaviour Analyst that loves reading and writing short stories and poems. She recently completed a manuscript, which included translating and analyzing Alice Munro’s short stories, and loved it!

Subrata Kumar Das, an immigrant in Canada since 2013, is an author and curator. A member of the Writers’ Union of Canada and Literary Translators Association of Canada, Subrata has 29 books to his credit. Subrata’s Bengali book on CanLit has been hugely acclaimed by the Bengali literature-lovers living in Canada and Bangladesh. The initiator of Bangladeshi Novels (bdnovels.org), the first website on Bengali literature in 2003, Subrata is the recipient of Nalanda Best Canadian Bengali Author Award at Canadian South Asian Literary Festival 2023 and Gayatri GaMarsh Memorial Award in 2018. He was shortlisted as Best Canadian Immigrant Award in 2021.
