Join Brooke Lockyer on May 4 at 7pm ET for the launch of her book Burr (Nightwood Editions) at Larry’s Folly on Queen St. West.

This free Toronto Lit Up event will be hosted by Phoebe Wang and feature readings from the author as well as Emily Anglin. There will also be music and tarot readings and magic by Mysterio the Magnificent.

Books will be available for sale courtesy of Type Books.

Toronto Lit Up is a multi-year initiative, started in 2016 by the Toronto International Festival of Authors and the Toronto Arts Council, to spotlight Toronto writers and empower local artists with career-building opportunities. Between April 2016 and March 2023, Toronto Lit Up has presented 165 events featuring over 200 Toronto authors and illustrators. Toronto Lit Up book launches take place throughout the year at venues across the city. Brooke Lockyer
Brooke Lockyer holds a B.A. from Barnard College and an M.A. in English in the Field of Creative Writing from the University of Toronto. She was the winner of the Hart House Literary Contest and the co-recipient of both the Peter S. Prescott and the Lenore Marshall Barnard prizes for prose. Her work has been published in Toronto Life, carte blanche, The Hart House Review, White Wall Review and Geist. She’s lived in rural Japan, New York City, Bristol and the Mojave Desert. Brooke currently resides with her family in Toronto.
