Toronto International Festival of Authors produces and presents several series of literary programmes every year. We welcome programming considerations and invite you to submit your proposal online to the appropriate programme stream below.
Toronto International Festival of Authors (The Festival), Lit On Tour and Year-Round Programming
Since its inception in 1974, the Toronto International Festival of Authors has welcomed more than 9,500 authors from over 100 countries, including 22 Nobel Laureates and countless other award winners. The 41st Festival will run between October 22 - November 1, 2020, presenting leading contemporary Canadian and international novelists, poets, playwrights, short story writers and biographers. The Festival provides writers with an internationally-recognized forum in which to present their work.
Lit On Tour (previously "IFOA Ontario") is a touring festival of author events presented annually in various communities outside of Toronto.
TIFA's year-round programming presents a continuous stream of digital and in-person author events in Toronto between September to June.
TIFA's programming team reviews materials for all programming.

Toronto Lit Up
The Toronto Arts Council (TAC) and Toronto International Festival of Authors have partnered on Toronto Lit Up, a multi-year initiative designed to spotlight Toronto writers and empower local artists with career-building opportunities. The Festival will host book release celebrations throughout the year at Harbourfront Centre and at other venues across the city.
The goal of this programme is to provide Toronto authors* with significant presentation opportunities that will allow the public to learn about and access more of the work of its local writing community.
Toronto Lit Up is led by a Committee, made up of Ayesha Chatterjee (past president, League of Canadian Poets), Alison Jones (Quill and Quire) and Hazel Millar (Literary Press Group), who will review and adjudicate all selections.
*Eligibility for Toronto Lit Up:
- Author must be a resident of Toronto, living in the city for at least eight months of the year;
