Ontario Touring Programme

Every year, the Toronto International Festival of Authors presents Lit On Tour to bring the world’s most exciting contemporary writers to communities across Ontario.

Since 2006, Lit On Tour has continued to deepen ties with community organizations, book stores, libraries and educational institutions across the province. Through public readings, discussions, master classes and book signings, Lit On Tour facilitates meaningful dialogue between book lovers and writers from around the world and in our own backyard. The programme gives participants the chance to take part in enriching activities that might not otherwise be available in their region, while presenting authors and publishers a unique opportunity to reach new audiences.

Lit On Tour will travel to 15 Ontario communities between September to November, 2019:

  • Huntsville
  • Aurora
  • Markham
  • Owen Sound
  • Bayfield
  • Midland
  • Woodstock
  • Etobicoke
  • Scarborough
  • Keswick
  • Pefferlaw
  • Sudbury
  • Thunder Bay
  • Cobourg
  • Fort Erie

“[Lit On Tour] is a really good opportunity for one on one conversations, during the signings, between reader and writer. One of the most moving comments any reader had made to me happened in Orillia and I will never forget it. A reader told me one sentence out of my book, and he said, ‘I travelled all the way here to meet the person who wrote that sentence.’ That made me cry.”
