Presentation: Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™ | Year-Round

Harbourfront Centre

235 Queens Quay West
Toronto M5J 2G8

Please be advised that the Ontario Library Association has made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Forest of Reading Festivals scheduled in May for Waterloo Region (May 6), London (May 8), and Toronto (May 12 – 14).

In order for OLA to effectively host Festivals, we need to reach a certain threshold of tickets purchases by mid-March. However, due to the challenges and uncertainties faced in the Ontario education sector this school year, we recognize that schools have not been able to commit to external events. And although the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has not been a main factor in our decision to cancel, we do recognize that the local situation may change between now and May. We have not reached the level of ticket sales needed.

We will be issuing full refunds to all those who purchased tickets. Please see the FAQs for details.

The Ontario Library Association’s (OLA) Forest of Reading® and the Festival of Trees occupy places of prominence in Canada’s literary landscape. The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading programme of its kind. Every year, more than 270,000 Ontario children read and vote for their favourite book in eight age-specific award categories.

The Forest of Reading® culminates in the Festival of Trees, a three-day awards celebration where the winners of each category are announced and celebrated alongside young readers. The festival is Canada’s largest literary event for children, with more than 10,000 attending the event at Harbourfront Centre. Each day has energetic ceremonies with live entertainment, as well as workshops with the nominated authors and illustrators.

Students across Ontario read 100 nominated works and cast votes for their favourite titles in late April. For a full list of 2020 nominees, please click here. Information about each award can be found here.

The event is open to the Public. Tickets are $15.50 each and are non-refundable!
