Three of the graphic novel world’s most exciting young stars share their beautiful and thought-provoking new works. Author Evan Munday acts as MC.

  • Dylan Horrocks

Dylan Horrocks is the author of the award-winning graphic novel Hicksville and the comic book series Pickle and Atlas. Horrocks has also written for DC Comics and Vertigo, including Hunter: The Age of Magic and Batgirl. He presents his latest critically acclaimed graphic novel, Sam Zabel and the Magic Pen, which explores the pleasures, dangers and moral consequences of fantasy. Supported by New Zealand Book Council and Creative New Zealand

  • Evan Munday

Evan Munday is a Publicity Manager at Penguin Random House Canada. But more than that, he's also the best-dressed member of the semi-prose team and one of the best-dressed in Canada, period (at least according to The Globe and Mail), a dad, author of The Dead Kid Detective Agency books, illustrator, and pop culture aficionado. Whether you need a quizmaster, a horror movie recommendation or an irreverent point of view on pretty much anything, Evan is your guy.

  • Jillian Tamaki

Jillian Tamaki is a cartoonist and illustrator. She is the co-creator of the graphic novel Skim (with Mariko Tamaki), which was on The New York Times’ Best Illustrated Books of 2008 list and was nominated for four Eisner Awards. Her second collaborative work with Mariko Tamaki, the graphic novel This One Summer, was a New York Times Bestseller and won a Caldecott Honor as well as the 2014 Governor General’s Award for Children’s Illustration. Tamaki's presents SuperMutant Magic Academy, expanded from her Ignatz Award-winning webcomic of the same name and centred around a high school for mutants and witches.
