Harbourfront Centre

In light of the evolving COVID-19 health crisis, the Book and Periodical Council, in association with the Toronto International Festival of Authors, has decided to cancel the annual Book Summit conference, which was to be held on June 18, 2020 in Toronto. The decision has not been made lightly, but the health and safety of Book Summit delegates, speakers, sponsors and the team is the number one priority. Information about future plans will be discussed once the crisis has subsided.

Presented by the Book and Periodical Council in association with the Toronto International Festival of Authors.

Book Summit is an annual day-long professional development conference for Canada's publishing industry. The Summit presents a keynote speaker and hosts panel discussions and labs that focus on current industry issues, of a sales and marketing nature.

In 2020, Canada will be honoured on the world stage for our contributions to the written word, and our industry, fuelled by talented authors and passionate publishing staff, has much to be proud of. But as margins get thinner, the market place more complex, and staff put in more hours, the publishing ecosystem is showing signs of strain. Can we remove some peril from the industry we love? How can we take advantage of new markets, models and formats. How can we better connect readers with Canadian books. How can we support staff and authors as the demands on them increase. The 19th edition of Book Summit looks to how we can balance financial realities and human well-being and foster a thriving, sustainable industry worthy of celebration in the years to come.
