Writers Collective of Canada: Front Lines: Courage, Hope and Resilience Anthology Readings

Writers Collective of Canada: Front Lines: Courage, Hope and Resilience Anthology Readings

11:30am

Saturday, September 24, 2022

Stage in the Park, September 24 at 11:30am ET.

Witness the magnificent, brave voices of the Writers Collective of Canada (WCC) as emerging writers read courageous pieces from the New Front Line Anthologies, highlighting themes of courage, hope and resilience, moderated by award-winning poet, Lisa Richter.

In the anthologies’ introduction, Roland Gulliver (TIFA) writes, “The work created in these books, and by the Writers Collective of Canada’s Write On! programme, captures the importance of being able to tell one’s story, the potential we all have, given time, support, safety, and freedom to express ourselves. The quality of the pieces is breathtaking, heartbreaking, uplifting, and inspiring. Like all good stories, they make us pause to look more at the works around us, make us think differently, and they share the magic of making things up. We always need stories – to tell, hear and read more stories. We need more organizations like Writers Collective of Canada. The more stories we hear, the more perspectives we contain, the more layers are added to our understanding of the world and who we are, and the more connections we make between teller and listener, writer and reader. The more stories we tell, create, and listen to, the more we will cast aside those assumptions and allusions of ourselves and the world around us.”

Writers Collective of Canada is a charitable organization that inspires exploratory writing in community to empower every voice, celebrate every story, and change the world. Our unique writing workshop method ignites strong, authentic voices, targeting traditionally underserved populations and underheard individuals nationwide. We accomplish our work through trained volunteer facilitators and program partners. Please join us on September 24th to hear Mairon Bennett, Joe Da Silva, Dela Muhundarajah, Ellise Ramos, Diana Sandulescu, Roberta Taylor and Shirin Tobie-Paul share magnificent and courageous writing. Writing together, we change the world.

This is a free outdoor event. Find the venue on the #FestofAuthors22 map here.
