Author Chinenye Emezie and translator Jenna Tang come together to discuss their raw and moving tales that echo across cultures and confront painful truths. Emezie’s Born in a House of Glass is a vivid saga about a family at war— not the type fought with guns and machetes, but the silent war of relationships fought at home. One of the biggest books to come out of Taiwan in the last decade, Fang Si-Chi’s First Love Paradise (written by Lin Yi-Han and translated by Jenna Tang) is a chilling tale of grooming and its lingering wounds and a remarkable reinvention of the trauma plot.

Chinenye Emezie

Chinenye Emezie's short stories and essays have appeared in Africa Book Club, Kalahari Review, Book Lovers Hangout and Opinion Nigeria. She is the 2013 winner of the Africa Book Club Short Story Competition. Born in a House of Glass is her first novel.

Jenna Tang

Jenna Tang is a Taiwanese writer, educator and translator who translates between Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French and English. She is a board member and chair of the Equity Advocates Committee at the American Literary Translators Association.
