The Toronto Poetry Slam returns for an eighth Festival appearance with a high-energy spectacle of original content to leave you feeling inspired!

Featured Poets: Dwayne Morgan and Afra Atiq

Since 2005, TPS has featured some of Canada’s best and most engaging spoken word artists and next generation stars. Presented in partnership with Toronto Poetry Project, this hit slam is a competition in two rounds with multiple contestants, judged by members of the audience. Anyone is welcome to sign up to perform in any style.

Want to take part? Poet sign up will take place in the Harbourfront Centre Theatre lobby from 6:30–7pm. Limited slam and open mic spots. Be sure to check out Toronto Poetry Slam’s guidelines “For the Poets” and “Code of Honor” here.

Dwayne Morgan

Dwayne Morgan, a 2023 appointee of the Order of Ontario and two-time Canadian National Poetry Slam Champion, began his spoken word career in 1993. In 1994, he founded Up From The Roots to highlight African Canadian and urban artists.
