Come and celebrate the launch of Lien Chao’s newest short story collection, Spiritual Pursuits and Other Short Stories (Mawenzi House). This collection of stories is about Toronto as a meeting place for people of all backgrounds. Set in the decades from the 1980s to the 2020s, the stories depict the ripple effects of China’s economic success, the peak of business globalization, and its inevitable decline during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The book launch will take place on Saturday, January 20 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at the North York Central Library Meeting Room 1 (second floor). The event will be moderated by Jerry Ma, Professor of West Asian Studies at York University.

This is a free Toronto Lit Up Event. Refreshments will be available. Books will be for sale by A Different Booklist.
