A collaborative live event with Toronto Public Library, literary giant, Irish author Colm Tóibín, discusses his latest book, The Magician, delving into the layers of the Nobel Prize-winning German author Thomas Mann. Tóibín’s 12th novel brilliantly imagines the life of the infamous exiled author and pens an intimate portrait of how the complex artist hid his expressions and innermost self from the world, and the epic cross-continent family saga that defined him. Set against the half-century spanning World War I, the rise of Hitler, World War II and the Cold War, The Magician combines research, masterful prose and intrigue that once again asserts Tóibín as one of today’s most beloved novelists.
