The Colours of Grief: Tanya Turton & Olivia Wenzel
September 22 at 8:30pm
The main characters in both Jamaican author Tanya Turton’s Jade is a Twisted Green and Olivia Wenzel’s 1000 Coils of Fear are navigating the complex terrain of grief after the loss of a twin sibling, doing their best to pick up the pieces and step into their true identities. Jade is a Twisted Green follows Jade Brown, a first-generation Jamaican woman living in Toronto who is rediscovering identity, love, chosen family and life’s pleasures after the loss of her other half. German author Wenzel’s experimental style in 1000 Coils of Fear unfolds a multilayered, rhythmic journey for the heroine as she struggles toward finding her place as a mixed-race woman living in Germany, investigating her origins and sense of belonging along the way.
