Chu’s The Stand-In reveals how a life can turn on its head when a young woman is asked to become an official stand in for a famous Chinese cinema actress with whom she shares an uncanny resemblance. Marlowe Granados is a writer and filmmaker. She received her BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Goldsmiths University. Her writing has appeared in FASHION Magazine and The Baffler, where she is the resident advice columnist. Her short film, The Leaving Party, premiered in 2020 and received notice at the Canada Short Films Festival, The Independent Shorts Awards and AltFF. Granados cohosts The Mean Reds, a podcast devoted to conversation and appreciation of women-led films. She has lived in New York and London, and currently resides in Toronto.
