Join Devakanthan for a journey through Sri Lanka in the 1980s as he presents his latest novels His Sacred Army and A Time of Questions from the award-winning quintet series Prison of Dreams. The series describes the Sinhala-Tamil ethnic conflict, the hard choices faced by the minority communities subject to pogroms and oppressive laws, and the sufferings and exiles of simple villagers. Having personally been exiled by the Sri Lankan civil war, Devakanthan’s book examines the marginalization and trauma caused by war and exile in this series, through the eyes of fictional characters experiencing the very real civil war. This event will be presented in Tamil with English subtitles.

கனவுச்சிறை எனும் தேவகாந்தனின் நான்கு பாகங்கள் கொண்ட பெருநாவலின் திருப்படையாட்சி, வினாக்காலம் ஆகிய இரண்டு பாகங்களை அவர் எங்களுக்கு வழங்குகிறார். அவற்றோடும் அவரோடும் இணைந்து, 1980 களின் இலங்கையில்  பயணம் செய்ய அழைக்கிறோம். இந்த நாவல் விருது பெற்ற நாவலாகும். சிங்கள-தமிழ் இனத்துவ முரண்பாட்டையும், சிறுபான்மைச் சமூகங்களின் முன்னுள்ள சிக்கல் வாய்ந்த தெரிவுகளையும் அச்சமூகங்களின் மேல் கட்டவிழ்த்து விடப்பட்ட திட்டமிடப்பட படுகொலைகளையும் ஒடுக்குமுறைச் சட்டங்களையும் அம் மக்களின் தொடர் துயரங்களையும் சாதாரண மக்களின் புலம்பெயர்வையும் இந்தப் பெருநாவல் விவரிக்கிறது. இலங்கையின் உள்நாட்டுப் போரினால் புகலிடம் தேடிப் புலம் பெயர்ந்தவர் தேவகாந்தன். அவருடைய நூல், போரும் புகலிட வாழ்வும் தருகிற ஒடுக்குமுறையையும் அஞரையும் அவற்றை எதிர் கொண்ட மக்களையும் பற்றி நூலின் இலக்கிய மாந்தர்களூடாகப் பேசுகின்றது. தொறொன்ரோ அனைத்துலக எழுத்தாளர் இலக்கிய விழாவின் இந்த நிகழ்வு ஆங்கில உபதலைப்புகளோடு தமிழில் இடம்பெறும்.
