Canadian authors Paul E. Hardisty and Daniel Kalla will take the stage to present their latest books, The Forcing and Fit to Die. Hardisty brings his years of being an environmental scientist to The Forcing, which features a thrilling, heart-pounding journey of survival in a world where civilization is collapsing, the planet is in crisis and people are being shipped off to internment camps. Kalla, an ER doctor from Vancouver, whose previous novels have covered hot topics like pandemics and the opioid crisis, is back with the novel Fit to Die, a riveting mystery that brings two police departments together for a race against the clock to find the source of a deadly weight loss drug. Hardisty and Kalla will be in conversation with author, journalist and broadcaster Jonathan Whitelaw.

Canadian Paul Hardisty has spent 25 years working all over the world as an environmental scientist and freelance journalist. He has roughnecked on oil rigs in Texas, explored for gold in the Arctic, mapped geology in Eastern Turkey and rehabilitated water wells in the wilds of Africa. He was in Ethiopia in 1991 as the Mengistu regime fell, survived a bomb blast in a café in Sana’a in 1993, and was one of the last Westerners out of Yemen at the outbreak of the 1994 civil war. Paul is a university professor and CEO of the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). His Claymore Straker series was shortlisted for multiple awards. He lives in Australia.
