In The Lazarus Solution (translated by Don Bartlett), Norwegian author Dahl takes readers on a thrilling journey through the dark alleys of 1943 Oslo as police detective Frolich investigates a series of seemingly unrelated murders that turn out to be part of a larger conspiracy. British-Canadian author Jennings’ Cold Snap, the third book in the Paradise Café series, takes readers to 1936 Toronto where private investigator Charlotte Frayne is pulled into a dangerous international plot by her boss and a domestic mystery by her estranged mother.

Featured Authors

One of the fathers of the Nordic Noir genre, Kjell Ola Dahl was born in Gjøvik in 1958. His debut was published in 1993, and he has since published 15 novels, including the Oslo Detectives series of police procedurals featuring investigators Gunnarstranda and Frølich – fast-paced thrillers with social issues at the heart in the finest Nordic Noir tradition – and three richly authentic historical thrillers. In 2000 he won the Riverton Prize for The Last Fix and in 2015 he won both the prestigious Brage and Riverton Prizes for The Courier. His work has been shortlisted for multiple awards, and published in 14 countries. A former sheep farmer, Kjell Ola lives outside of Oslo.

Maureen Jennings was born in the UK. Best known for the Detective Murdoch books, which have been adapted into the long-running television series, Murdoch Mysteries; she is also the author of the Tom Tyler and Christine Morris series. Her books have been translated into many other languages, including Polish, Korean, French, German, Italian and Czech. Jennings lives in Toronto with her husband, photographer Iden Ford, and her dog, Murdoch. Website: maureenjennings.com
