Featured Authors

Born in Taiwan, Janie Chang has lived in the Philippines, Iran, Thailand, New Zealand and Canada. She writes historical fiction with a personal connection, drawing from family history and ancestral stories. She has a degree in computer science and is a graduate of the Writer’s Studio Program at Simon Fraser University. She is the author of Three Souls and Dragon Springs Road.

Louise Hare is a London-based writer and editor with an M.A. in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London. In 2016, her short story The Odyssey of Dee Lennox was shortlisted for the Just Write Creative Writing Competition, and in 2017 she was a finalist for the prestigious Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize. This Lovely City is her first novel.

Judith Pereira joined The Globe and Mail in 2001, as an intern at Report on Business magazine, while doing her Master’s degree in Publishing at Simon Fraser University. After a stint as a features editor for globeandmail.com, she spent nearly two decades as an editor at the magazine where she won several National Newspaper Awards for packages and infographics. She became The Globe’s Books editor in 2019. Before joining The Globe, she worked for the now defunct Lichtman’s (where she learned the importance of recommendations to book sales) and read the slush pile at Penguin Canada (where she discovered nobody). She also sits on the board of the Canadian Museum of Nature.
