Since her 2019 shot to literary stardom with her nonfiction work Three Women, Lisa Taddeo has made an international impact writing about feminism, power and rage. In her debut novel, Animal, Taddeo guides us on a visceral exploration of the fallout from a male-dominated society. The story introduces us to Joan, a woman who has spent a lifetime enduring the cruelties of men. When one of them commits a shocking act of violence in front of her, she flees in search of the only person who can help her make sense of a life-long rage, and then summon the power to finally strike back.
