About

For Canadian readers, David Shribman’s columns and articles are essential in making sense of the machinations of US politics. As contributing writer for The Globe and Mail and Executive Editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Shribman shaped his career reporting on US politics, winning a Pulitzer Prize for his work in 1995. The 2024 US election campaign has given us a historic, tumultuous summer with the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and President Biden stepping aside for a resurgent Kamala Harris. The contemporary news cycle moves faster than ever before with traditional media and social media competing for our eyeballs, making it overwhelmingly impossible to find perspective. When the Festival finishes there will be 36 days until election day; so much can happen and so much will be written: how should we read the US elections? Join David Shribman in conversation with Kyle Wyatt, editor of the Literary Review of Canada as they examine the issues of this unprecedented moment in history.
