Dr. David Waltner-Toews is a renowned Canadian veterinary epidemiologist and highly-respected specialist in the epidemiology of food and waterborne diseases, zoonoses, ecosystem health and One Health, whose work has been instrumental in the development of teaching and training programs across North America, Europe and Asia. A University Professor Emeritus in the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph, Dr. Waltner-Toews served as the founding president of Veterinarians without Borders-Canada. He is the author of numerous books of poetry and nonfiction and lives in Kitchener, Ontario.

Ashleigh Tuite is an assistant professor and infectious disease epidemiologist at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her research combines the science of how communicable diseases spread with the complexity of human behaviour. She is involved in the Canadian COVID-19 pandemic response, with a focus on how data can be used to improve risk forecasting and decision-making during uncertain times. She is the recipient of the Senior Lupina Prize for Dynamic Modeling Health Policy and her research has been published in many top scientific journals and her expertise featured in national and international news media.

André Picard is the health columnist at The Globe and Mail and the author of six bestselling books. His most recent, Neglected No More: The Urgent Need To Improve the Lives of Canada’s Elders, was a finalist for both the $50,000 Donner Prize and the $60,000 Balsillie Prize for Public Policy. He lives in Vancouver.
