The Goethe-Institut Toronto, in collaboration with MOTIVE Festival, invites you to Books & Brötchen, an event with Melanie Raabe & Elizabeth Renzetti at the new Goethe Community Space. Cologne-based author Melanie Raabe, author of award-wining mystery novel The Shadow ​and host of a popular podcast on creativity, will be in conversation with Toronto author and Globe & Mail journalist, Elizabeth Renzetti. They’ll discuss the trials and triumphs of writing and performing across different mediums and a casual brunch will allow our guests to break bread and engage with these fantastic talents in an intimate setting. Featured Authors

Melanie Raabe is a German author. She debuted with psychological thriller The Trap in 2015, followed by The Stranger (2016), The Shadow (2018) and The Woods (2019). Her latest work is a non-fiction book on creativity. Raabe's novels are published in more than 20 countries. She lives in the city of Cologne. Melanie Raabe’s Festival appearance is generously supported by Goethe-Institut.

Elizabeth Renzetti is a bestselling Canadian author and journalist. She formerly worked for the Globe and Mail as a reporter, editor and columnist. She is the co-author, with Kate Hilton, of the mystery novel Bury the Lead, the first in the Quill & Packet series, set in the fictional Ontario cottage town Port Ellis. Her non-fiction book What She Said: Conversations about Equality will be published in October 2024. She lives in Toronto with her family.
