From a book to a two-season podcast, Jonny Dovercourt’s Any Night of the Week: A D.I.Y. History of Toronto Music 1957-2001 has been a staple of entertainment for fans of music and stories during the pandemic. From Queen West to Scarborough, Dovercourt has been sharing the music hotspots of Toronto that put the city on the map for music lovers. He is now taking this knowledge to the streets with two outdoor walks to share the bands, people and venues that fostered creativity and new music scenes.
Toronto Music History Walking Tour #1: Queen Street West
Author Jonny Dovercourt (Any Night of the Week) leads you on a guided tour of the area that was ground zero for Toronto’s punk, new wave and reggae music explosions of the 1970s, and laid the groundwork for the alternative, indie and electronic music booms of the 1980s through to the 2000s, visiting iconic venues such as the Rivoli, the Horseshoe Tavern and the Cameron House.
