In 2022, the 15th edition of the International Visitors (IV) Programme will welcome publishing leaders from across Canada and around the world to take part in exclusive opportunities for professional development during the Festival. The IV Organizing Committee invites all who are interested in publishing, and love the written word, to join them for this special Ivy Award & Conversation event, presented in conjunction with the IV Programme. This free, 90-minute event will feature the presentation of the annual Ivy Award, followed by an insightful conversation with a publishing industry leader.

Iris Tupholme, SVP, Executive Publisher at HarperCollins Publishers Ltd., will be the 11th recipient of the Ivy Award, given annually to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to Canadian publishing. The award will be introduced by award-winning author Lawrence Hill. A conversation with Chantal Restivo-Alessi, Chief Digital Officer and CEO International Foreign Language for HarperCollins, led by interviewer Jennifer Lambert, HarperCollins, will follow.

Iris was born in Saskatchewan and lived in northern Ontario before moving to the Toronto area. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph, the University of Toronto, Ryerson College and the Rotman School of Business. Iris was chosen as the Editor of the Year in 2013 by Canadian Booksellers. She has been a Fellow in Sydney, Jerusalem and Scotland. Iris is the Founding Chair of the International Visitors (IV) Programme.

Chantal Restivo-Alessi's headshotChantal Restivo-Alessi is Chief Digital Officer and CEO International Foreign Language for HarperCollins Publishers, leading the overall global digital strategy and foreign language publishing program for the company. She has led the development of the company’s global publishing program, with the acquisition of globally bestselling authors such as Karin Slaughter, Daniel Silva and Don Winslow, and the establishment of trade publishing operations in nine foreign markets, including Japan, Brazil and across Europe. Restivo-Alessi is fluent in six languages, holds an MBA from Columbia University, a Masters in Foreign Trade and International Marketing from ICE Italian Institute and a Laurea (MA) in International Political Sciences from University of Rome.
