Win a Stack of Poetry Books
Wednesday, April 3, 2019 between 7:00PM and the end of the event’s intermission period (approximately 8:30PM)
Toronto International Festival of Authors
1) HOW TO ENTER
No purchase required. All attendees of The Event will be invited to complete a ballot for The Contest. Respondents who wish to enter The Contest can do so by completing a provided paper ballot, and submitting it to the TIFA Support & Information table at The Event. Each completed ballot represents a chance to win a free bundle of books written by authors who have participated, or will participate, in TIFA events (specific titles will be determined on a case-by-case basis per each event).
Limit of one entry per person. Entrants who attempt or are suspected of attempting to enter more than once shall be deemed as tampering and will be disqualified from The Contest.
The Contest is open to all residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry, and who are attending The Event.
Employees and representatives of the Harbourfront Centre and the TIFA, as well as its advertising and promotional agencies, affiliated corporations and other persons, firms or corporations involved in the development or execution of this Contest, are not eligible to enter or win a prize in this Contest.
3) DRAW AND WINNER SELECTION PROCEDURE
At the end of the TIFA event intermission, in Toronto, Ontario, one (1) eligible entrant will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
The winner’s name will be announced on stage at The Event after intermission, and before the start of The Event’s second half of programming. Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant must report to the TIFA Support & Information table at The Event before the event ends (at approx. 10:00PM), and correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question, and confirm compliance with the contest rules.
If the selected entrant incorrectly answers the mathematical skill-testing question, declines the prize, or fails to comply to the contest rules, the prize shall be forfeited and the TIFA has the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner or cancel the contest.
4) THE PRIZE
The winner will receive a free bundle of books written by authors who have participated in TIFA events in the past, or have been booked for future appearances. Specific titles will vary per event, and are subject to change at the discretion of the TIFA.
The total retail value of the prize is approximately $100.00 CAD.
5) ENTRY CONDITIONS
By entering this Contest, each participant agrees to abide and be bound by these contest rules. All decisions of the TIFA shall be final and binding upon the participant.
To be declared a winner, the selected contestant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question, and be present on the day of the event to accept the prize in person.
The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or refunded for an amount of money, sold or transferred. No substitutions will be allowed. Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited.
If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, the TIFA reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value, as determined in its sole discretion.
Refusal to accept the prize releases the Contest Parties from any obligation toward the winner.
By participating in the contest, the winner agrees to the possibility of their name, voice, or likeness being used in promotional material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and releases the TIFA, as well as its respective directors, officers and employees from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this Contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.
The TIFA reserves the right, exercisable in its discretion, to disqualify and ban any participant from this Contest if the participant is found or is believed to have been tampering with the entry process, or the operation of the Contest. The TIFA will not be held responsible for missing or damaged entries.
The TIFA reserves the right to cancel, suspend, withdraw or amend this Contest in any way, without prior notice or obligation, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the TIFA that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Contest Rules. Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the TIFA reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
By entering this Contest, each participant agrees that the TIFA will not be liable for any injury or damage from whatever cause associated with or in connection with this Contest.
This Contest is subject to Canadian law and void where prohibited or restricted.
