Jason Loo is a Toronto-based artist and comics creator most widely known for this work on The Pitiful Human-Lizard, a superhero comic set in Toronto. The series, which is published through Chapterhouse Comics, was nominated for the 2018 Doug Wright Spotlight Award!
As one of our #FestofAuthors19 Delegates, Jason has been translating his Festival experience into a series of comic strips. Take a look below!
Black Box Session, Humber School for Writers, Love and Defiance Podcast
On October 25, Jason attended a live recording of the Humber School for Writers’ Love and Defiance podcast, where an all-black dress code left the room completely shrouded in darkness except for the lights on the stage. The audience heard as author, filmmaker and Humber School for Writers Director David Bezmozgis spoke with Gillian Grant, a Humber student who has lived an extraordinary life and turned that experience into art.
Festival Tribute to Wayson Choy
Here, Jason depicts the celebration of the late Wayson Choy, one of the foremost pioneers of Canadian literature and author of The Jade Peony and All That Matters. This intimate event welcomed some of Wayson’s closest friends and colleagues to reflect on his life and work.
